1815 – A Dutch trader in Gorey Harbour, with a cutter and other vessels. The medieval Mount Orgueil Castle is strategically positioned overlooking Gorey and its harbour. It was built in the 13th century to protect Jersey from French raiders and for centuries was the political and military headquarters of the English Crown in Jersey.
