£1.00
On 22.8.1851, the yacht America outsailed the whole British fleet in a race around the Isle of Wight. The nearest British yacht to her, Aurora, finished 8 minutes after the America. The 100 Guinea Cup she won was renamed in her honour “The America Cup”.
